College Diaries - History of BTK

Year: 2000, College 2nd year.

There were 2 gangs in my class.
1. Kadalai Gang
2. Beat the Kadalai (BTK) Gang.

All those people who speak with gals belong to first one and the unfortunates belong to BTK. Kay obviously was in BTK. BTK was much bigger gang.
Lemme brief you some activities of BTK
1. Vayiru erinjing when 2 people put kadalai.
2. Geli senjing the guy putting kadalai by shouting his name, giving kerchief to wipe out his jollu while putting kadalai and .....all other measures to stop kadalai.
BTK almost spoiled everyone's Kadalai.

we went to a Boys school, so Kadalai'na ennanu theriyama valarnthom. So we were always Kadalai'ly challenged. Every Kadalai'ly challenged person is called Helmet. My dad's friend is a doctor, so my dad used to take me to his friend's clinic often, because he thought that i would get motivated looking at his friend practicing.

So everytime we went there he used to give me this pep talk saying how good this profession is and blah blah..
But i was never hesitant to go to that clinic, not that i was motivated by his friend but there was one beautiful nurse in that clinic, anniku decide aaachu naan oru Engineer'thaanu.

I bought this IPod shuffle today. Looks cool.
I am having this citibank dividend card, for every $ u spend you get 5% cash back. You can earn upto 300$ in a calendar year. So this year i earned enough to buy an IPod shuffle.

When you shop for credit cards certainly look for cash back deals.

I am planning to run a Half Marathon next summer which is six months from now. I have already started my training, hopefully i will have enough motivation to carry it on until next summer.

Shuffle is an excuse for my training. Certainly running in a treadmill is boring, so decided to entertain it with some music.

I would have been happy if Microsoft had come up with an IPod shuffle kinda device because i would have had some discount at the company store. Since my cash back money was not enough to buy a Zune, i am settling with this.

Will write a review on the device soon.

You guys might have read this. I was quite upset the way Australians behaved during the presentation ceremony.

Coming to the point I personally feel this behavior is condemned and the team should apologize to him. Further the Australian board has to take actions too see that this won’t happen again.

Back

My last post was on April 22, it’s been a while since I posted something here.

But in this 6 months lot of things have happened, everything for good.

I graduated: This one is really big, at one point of time I never thought I would. It had been a drag though. But eventually it’s done now. I am all set to boast my Masters degree next to my name.

Moved to Redmond: Soru Kanda Idam Sorgam’nu I was in Lexington for 3 years unwilling to move anywhere. As Godfather says “Redmond made me an offer which I couldn’t refuse”. So I am here in Redmond all set and settled.

So what’s with this new place?

It’s so beautiful and looks ejatly like Ooty and every place I roam around here just makes me nostalgic and brings back my Ooty trip memories.

Ok Place looks good How abt women?

Women look good too but they all come with a fine-print. The fine-print is that they are all married. This is true everyone here is at least 2 to 3 years older than me and everyone is married. It is real hard for me to find people of my age here. I think this is sort of transition everyone got to go through when they move out of college to work. I wish I worked in India as I have heard people say that their workplace is no different than being in college.

For that matter I am the youngest one in the team. When everyone in my team talking about stocks, kids and real estate all I would do is to pretend listening. But that makes me wonder why people become so boring as they grow older.

Small World: The world is so small, everyone is related and everyone’s life is related to others. This is what African Philosophy Ubuntu is all about. Why Am I saying this?

Because this “Small world” concept have struck me number of times.

My schoolmate who I never thought I would meet again is now here working in Redmond and I never knew. But she couldn't recognize me. So I had to do this “Moondram pirai” Kamal’s Monkey techniques to make her recognize me.

I guess these girls have selective amnesia. But as this have happened to me number of times now I have mastered this Monkey technique to make my identity.

Blogging and others: Since I haven’t been blogging for a while I don’t know who’s Hot and who’s not in the blogging world. I hope the small group of friends I made thru blogs are still out there checking my blogs once in a while. Hi to all.

Accolades and wishes:

Blogswara: Its an incredible effort by a group of bloggers and still makes me wonder how come they can come up with something like this even without meeting each other. Venkittu Sir you got to explain me how it works? Now they have come with their Second version of Blogswara. Good luck with that.

Imse: Imsai is married. I thought Imsai was as young as me :) but I never knew he was that old to get married :) Congrats da.

Plugu: Plugu is in business school and he is a frequent flyer now :)

One person who haven’t changed a bit would be Visit, because

1. She still remembers me and mails me once in a while.

Cheri boys of chennai

I was living in Chrompet till my 5th std. It is a perfect place where u can see a mix of people. Right from educated boys to cheri boys u see all kinds of people. People who fail in their exams are called cheri boys (according to my mom and I am not supposed to roam with them). The only difference between me and them would be 1 mark (i wud have jus passed). I was caught in a predicament because the educated boys never accepted me because of my low marks and cheri boys thought I was a "Pazham" since I passed all my exams. After it took a great effort from my side to prove that I am also a cheri boy. Finally I became friend with cheri boys and we formed a gang. We were really cool guys doin all kinds of cool stuff.
There was every indication of us becoming successful in our life I don’t know y my mom classified us as cheri. For eg we outshined other men of our age in following fields.

Sports

We go to Annaachi stores and pick empty cigar pack covers. we play a game with it, the game is to bet cigar covers on your aiming skills.
You place the cigar cover and try to hit it with a stone, if you are able to hit it then that cover is urs.
Gold Flake is very hard to get by and it is equivalent to 5 points. Scissors is jus 1 point. The one with highest point at the end of the day wins. Not to mention our Sportsmanship, we understood “Winning is not important but taking part is”.

Engineering

We were born Mechanical Engineers. Our team designed and manufactured a automobile called "Nongu Vandi" it is basically a long stick with "Nongu" shell as tires. Each one makes one and better Nongu vandi requires lot of skill to make and we had it. BTW Nongu is a tropical fruit.

Research and Development

Can a vehicle run in one tyre? Yes mine did and that is our research. We used to go to cycle shop and buy punctured tyres and use a stick to rotate this tyre and that is my vehicle.
Where ever I go I will rotate this tyre with me. This vehicle does not pollute and doesn’t require fuel. When I go to nearby shop I rotate the tyre and park it in front of Annaachi shop, buy stuff and come back home park it in front of my house. It was integral part of my system. we hold a patent for this research.

Leisure
Whats if one day we become rich ? we need some hobbies to get away with the hectic life, so we cultivated some hobbies.

Reading
We buy cinema songs book of recently released movies and by heart all the lyrics.

Hunting
We after a long day’s work will go to nearby garden and catch Onan (chameleon) . we use a special hunting device made of thudapakutchi we tie a knot at the end and make it go around the neck of chameleon. We also catch Thumbi and tie a thread to its tail. We are so good as hunters.

This is our successful childhood story. This gang had five people, I wanted to introduce them to you all.
